I'm now left with just one more lap to go before the curtain falls on the MTL examinations. Yayness. Oral exams were on Wednesday so we're now left with the Listening Examination. Oral was okay; passage did not contain too may difficult words and I did have quite a bit to say when it came to conversation. I only wished I had maintained a constant reading speed, spoke more fluently and knew how to phrase my thoughts in Chinese better. Ah well, there's no point crying over spilt milk.
Some updates on my life:

And with the passing of Thursday 29 June, the curtain falls on my days as a Crescent Red Cross cadet. Thinking back over the last 3.5 years, I'm amazed at the truckloads of memories, be it bitter or sweet, gained during then. I may have complained about Red Cross once in a while but let me tell you, I NEVER REGRETTED JOINING RED CROSS. Right, before I dwell on the good ol'days I'll first talk about our very last Red Cross activity.
Charlene, Petrina and I came only at 4pm because we were attending history lecture. So we missed out on a bit but luckily we arrived just as all the fun and excitement they were having reared to it's climax. I received this card with my name printed in a really cool font from the Sec 3s; it's got a message from them to me behind. Haha, I'm pleasantly surprised they liked my RCK lessons and still remembered SYNERGY! May synergy bind your squad forever more. The part commenced with the Sec 4s' cutting of the cake(To Sillies from Frozen Jellies), in the midst of all that cheering and cameras snapping away. Everyone then proceeded to attack the food galore. After which, the new committee was announced using a powerpoint slides show. Then, gifts were dished out and each committee member met up with their Sec 4 counterparts.

A walk down the memory lane
Sec 1 days
Red Cross wasn't my first choice but the second. Still, I was glad I got into one of my three choices and went for my very first activity, the Telematch, brimming with excitement. I first got to know Vera senior and Ying Yee, who quitted sometime later. Didn't know much about my other squadmates except for Weixue who's also my classmate. What I did remember was that the number of Sec 1s dwindled as months passed. Apparently, they found training too tough and the Ma'ams too strict. So did I but somehow I managed to put up with it. I think it was because of my really playful nature; when things got tough I tried to be funny so as to to 'diffuse the tension'. At the huge risk of receiving a tongue-lashing from the ma'ams. I only took RC seriously after camp, in which my squad really bonded.
Sec 2 days
First batch of juniors! Yeah I was gleeful at the prospect of being a senior to the Sec 1s. I first got to know Shu Qiao who was in my Telematch group. Also, my squadmates and I got really confused when we first learnt Yvette's name. We wondered why she was named after Evacuation(Evac for short) and it was only until I caught a glimpse of her nametag did I realise it was 'Yvette' and not 'Evac'! Ah sheesh, I don't remember much of my Sec 2 days except that our Sec 3 seniors stepped up, and we had more responsibilities to go along with. OH YEAH I DO NOW: VISITS TO JERVOIS SCHOOL!!! I wonder how my buddy Matthew is doing? He's one hyperactive + enthusiastic guy.
Sec 3 days
The most eventful year of all, the highlight being the day my squad stepped up. It took sometime before I could get used to be addressed as 'i/c'. Being in charge was fun; we had the RC room to ourselves and we organized all activities. I especially enjoyed holding RCK lessons. Sadly, there were very few RCK lessons that year because when I stepped up the Sec 2s had completed about 90% of their syllabus. And yeah, I taught them 'synergy' which I picked up from The 7 habits of Highly Effective Teens. Other defining moments of RC 2005 included our Red Cross camp, Current Affairs competition and Talentime.
Sec 4 days
The day that stood out most would be our Sec 1 Orientation performance. Till now I swell with pride when I think of how we managed to wow our audience. AND NOT TO FORGET: RECEIVING NOT ONE BUT TWO GOLD AWARDS!!!!!!!!!!! It was a mark made in the history of Crescent Red Cross because we had been clinching Silver all along. Ah, the sweet smell of success.

Thank you, squadmates, for your quirkiness, fun and laughter shared over the past 3.5 years. Once a Silicon electron, always a Silicon electron, yeah?
Thank you, juniors, for making my days in Red Cross memorable. It's been a great pleasure knowing you all, really.
Thank you ,seniors, for making us who we are today. Behind every successful cadet is a senior:)
Thank you, Mrs Yip, Miss Goh, Yu Heng Ma'am and Joanne ma'am, for standing by CRCY all these years, your encouragement and being there for us.

Do I really have to stop wearing my enrolment badge now that we've stepped down? It's the one thing I wear to school everyday that identifies me as a Crescent Red Cross cadet.

I take up the keyboard once again to record a defining moment in the life of YY Wan...the return to school. Okay fine larh, nothing really big happened, but I MISSED SCHOOL:) A new term brings about new changes and class 4G3 has plenty of those. For one thing, Mrs Lucy Tan is no longer our A maths teacher. This piece of news shattered the lively atmosphere of the class when we received it in the morning. Like NONONONONONONO(X1000000)!!!!!! Mrs Tan is a BRILLIANT teacher and we've all grown to like her really cute character. Apparently, she had to go because she needed to concentrate on teaching 4S3 E maths and A maths. BUT WHY OUR CLASS OF ALL CLASSES?! The other day when I met her I said, "We miss you." And she got a bit emotional and said she felt really bad about having been asked to ditch our class. In fact, she felt so bad she dished out toffees and gave us two Gotchas.
For another, Crescent Girls' School is undergoing a makeover. There's going to be more facilities e.g high-tech Language lab, a really cool Science room and an 'Underwater world' at the pond. Unfortunately, the Sec 4s probably won't be around to see these when they are completed. Oh never mind we were around to see the launch of the PAT, E block and in a few months time it'd be the Arts Conservatory. And we were around the time the school installed air conditioners in classes:)
Wah Lao I still can't decide if I want to combine my sciences or not. It's like clinging on to a pedulum;sometimes I'd be all gung-ho about combining and on other days I'd think perhaps I shouls just stick with pure sciences. Dammit, dammit I hope I can arrive at a decision ASAP.
OMG, OMG, WE'RE STEPPING DOWN TOMORROW. TIME REALLY FLIES LIKE AN ARROW!SIGH!

My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult is truly a masterpiece. It's like a bowl of excellent soup;the blend of plot, storyline, characters, style, humour, theme and language use is perfect. With a dash of interesting bits and bites ever now and then. And on finishing, you get what a very good book is supposed to give you: A warm, fuzzy feeling. The story ventures out of the typical and tells of a young teen who was conceived to provide stem cells, lymphocytes, bone marrows etc for her leukemia-stricken sister should she need it. Anna has never questioned this role unti she reaches the cusp of teenhood and wonders who she truly is. It was then she makes the decision of suing her parents for the rights of her own body. One interesting thing about this book is the way it is written: Every chapter is written from the point of view of a different character. This is a book that can be enjoyed by everyone, young and old. I declare My Sister's Keeper my favourite book, after The Da Vinci Code and Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Oh yeah, I'VE FINALLY CAUGHT X MEN 3!!! And omigosh, it's BRILLIANT I tell you, it simply rox my sox:D Judging from all the hype and discussions of how great it was, I concluded it was not to be missed and pestered my parents to take my brother and I to catch X men. And i was over the moon when they finally did. I had watched the cartoons as a kid and the characters looked just the way I remembered them: Jean Grey's flame red hair,Wolverine's sleek long claws and the streak of white in Rouge's hair. Story's pretty good; I like the bit where magneto's team and Storm's team finally clash in a whirl of fireballs, energy waves and lightning bolts. Woohoo. Aww, but why did ***, *** and *** have to die. Manzzz. Okay, I decided I'll be an X-men 3 fan, in addition to Lord of the Rings and Final Fantasy, cuz I can't get all that fast and furious action out of my head. X-men!!!!!!

INTRODUCING THE NEWEST MEMBER OF THE WAN FAMILY, PEPSI!!!
No, you're not hallucinating, there HAS been a latest addition to the House of wan. And no, it isn't a can of soft drink. It's a DOG. A creamy gold little furball with black liquid eyes and a little pincushion of a nose. And he's got this look of angelic innocence that simply melts one's heart(except my git of a brother). It was love at first sight when my Mum spotted the little guy and the rest of the litter of cocker spainel puppies. She found them so irrestibly cute she set her heart on getting one and called me to drop by at the pet shop on my way home from school. They were real adorable alright so I agreed to buying a puppy. We finally decided on Pepsi 'cos I thought he was the cutest.
On my way home(we sneaked him up the SBS bus), I kept wondering what the others, especially my other dog Coke, would think of the new puppy. Turns out that for different members of the family, the reactions varied:
Yish: Thought he was hallucinating until I put the little guys into his arms and said, "Yes it's a dog. D-O-G. Dog." I think he kinda freaked out a bit because he took a block of ice outside and smashed it to bits with his walking stick.
Hathi: Squealed with delight and went "Aiyoooo". It was love at first sight too.
Dad: Quotes "Errmmm......okay......"
Coke: The dogs exchanged greetings by sniffing each other. Then Coke circled Pepsi, observing him. Pepsi showed his playful streak and tries to snuggle up to Coke. Coke growls and moves away. Thankfully, he didn't try to hurt Pepsi.
It took us a damn long time to decide on a name for the new puppy. I wanted "Stitch", "Cupcake", "Mocha" or "Copper". Mum wanted "Puff" or "Pepsi".The boys simply couldn't be bothered to think up good names. After much debating, we settled on "Copper". Which was the new puppy's name for a day only. After that, it was between "Pepsi" and "Puff". I didn't like the latter and one day, sick of deciding on names, officialy declared the new puppy's name to be Pepsi. Mum can't complain; Coke was named after a soft drink too. So Pepsi it was.
Pepsi has been with us for almost 2 weeks already. He's kinda naughty; always chewing up anything he comes across, including our toes. But he can be well-behaved too. He falls asleep at the drop of a hat and doesn't make too much noise. I've grown fond of him and I know he is growing to love us, his family, too.
